Assistant Manager of Hope Thrift Store
Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver; Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett; Atonement by Ian McEwan. I enjoy a great fiction book with a historical element.
I enjoy the classic movies like The Godfather and The Sting but I can also get into a good Bourne movie.
Favorite TV Show
Seinfeld, a true classic!
Things I enjoy
Exercising, cooking, entertaining, helping others and drinking lots of coffee. Maybe not in that order.
I was raised in Columbia, SC in a military family so we grew up in a pretty strict environment. Thus my affinity for neatness! My family did not attend church regularly so I was not formally introduced to Jesus Christ until much later in life. My parents were divorced when I was young but I stayed in Columbia and attended USC, majoring in Journalism. I then worked in advertising for about 8 years in Columbia, SC, Winston- Salem, NC and Charlotte, NC.
I met my husband Chip while living in Charlotte, NC and we were married in 1990. We both became very involved in Young Life as leaders at Godwin High School in Richmond and this is where I came to know Christ as my Lord and Savior.
Chip and I have 3 boys, Charlie, Sam and Luke and we attended and were members at Second Baptist Church for 20 years before coming to Hope Church in 2010. We attended Hope for about 5 years and currently we are at Third Church.
While at Hope, I became involved in the Thrift Store during its inception and have been there ever since. I truly love the entire process of this ministry. Interacting with the customers and volunteers, turning our inventory each and every day, making order out of chaos at every turn. (that neatness thing)
I consider it a blessing to be able to be in the business of ministry and be able to assist all types of people on both the relational end with a hug or prayer, and on the practical end helping them meet an immediate basic need for clothes, furniture, etc. The warm and loving environment that Hope Thrift offers embodies what true Christianity looks like.
Our family currently lives in Goochland County with our three boys and two labs Jackson and Dixie.
