I love sports. I grew up playing pretty much everything, but my favorite is lacrosse. I have been playing and coaching for the last 20 years and love teaching it to my kids as they grow up. I also love all things technology (when they work) and enjoy playing board games with my family and video games after everyone is asleep.
I grew up in Northern NJ in a Christian home where faith was always part of my life from a young age. As a teenager, living out my faith wasn’t always easy, but I knew it was what God wanted me to do. During the end of my senior year in high school, I first felt God calling me to ministry.
I attended Messiah College where I played lacrosse and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies. During this time, my faith really became my own as I wrestled with what I believed and why. After that, I completed my Masters of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary.
I met my wife Stacey during a summer internship at my parents’ home church, and we were married in 2006. After a year in PA as a youth/college pastor, we moved back home to NJ where I served as a College and Young Adult Pastor for 7 years.
Stacey and I have 3 children. Our two boys, Luke and Drew, were born in NJ, and Lauren was born a few weeks after we moved to Richmond in 2014. Our first Sunday at Hope was the day before Lauren was born and the day the Hope Places Campaign was launched. We know it wasn’t an accident that we came for the first time on that particular Sunday. As we left the parking lot, we knew Hope was the place we wanted to call home. We have loved being part of the Hope community ever since.
Life has been a journey, and we are continuously in awe at how faithful God has been during the ups and downs of it. He never ceases to amaze us with all that He has done, and we feel so blessed to be here and excited to be part of the Hope team!
