I am a Colorado transplant, raised in Ashburn, Virginia, a Harrisonburg townie, and now a Richmond local.
Playing sports, riding bikes, and splashing around in the creek was how I spent my childhood, but I always found my identity in what I did versus who God made me to be. Throughout middle school and high school, my life was dedicated to competitive swimming, school, and being in numerous leadership positions. Even though I heard about Jesus Christ at church, the first time I really heard the Gospel in all its clarity was at a local Young Life club during my sophomore year. The following summer at camp, I gave my life to Christ.
I really began to follow Christ for myself when I went off to college at James Madison University. Receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies in 2016, I quickly found that developing relationships and simply being with people is what makes me come alive. For the next four years, I led Young Life at a local high school and fell in love with high school students and the awe and wonder they can have in who Jesus Christ is. I love the energy they bring to the table and believe they are in a crucial time in their lives to be pursued, cared for, and listened to.
I am so thankful to call Hope Church my home for the next year!
