What’s the goal here?
Our goal in Children and Family Ministry is to offer a collision of family and church that changes lives.
We believe that when family and church work together, they make a greater impact than when they work alone.
The Collide blog is an effort to encourage spiritual growth in your home. We intend to have weekly updates with table discussion ideas, book reviews, and personal stories from other Hope families…
Ok, hold up here…..those are words from our publication, but I think they feel a little stiff for this context. Hopefully those words ARE helpful, but I fear that they might not get to the deep gut of the issue. Point is, we know that life is messy. Parenting is hard. Really HARD. I personally can say that, because I am a parent. I love my children, but sometimes I feel like I am spinning out of control in my efforts to grow up two Godly men who are confident, happy, and putting their trust in Jesus.
We want you to know that we care about families. All of us are a part of a family at Hope. Each family is unique in it’s make up, but similar in our desires. We want to have experiences that help us connect and support for working through our role as parents. We want to reach out to our community in ways that demonstrate, not dictate, God’s Love. We need to know that we aren’t alone.
How can Collide help you?
Family Event- Touch a Truck
Looking for something to do this weekend?
Touch a Truck
Oct. 2nd
10-3
Richmond International Raceway
Check out the Junior League Website for info on this weekend’s Touch a Truck. This event is geared to the preschool- elementary school age children, but moms and dads may find themselves having a good time too! I attended with my boys last year and it was a big hit. There is nothing like seeing those huge construction trucks and fire trucks up close.
Why Orange?
I have to admit that orange is not one of my favorite colors. Having grown up in Georgia Bulldog territory, my heart longs for red and black. Even my rival high school was orange and blue. I was trained as a youth to have a deep dislike for this color. But every week you will see me wearing it along with all the other Big Adventure faithful volunteers.
Why?
Take a moment to think back on your Elementary art class when you learned that Red and Yellow make Orange.
Orange is more than just a color to us.
Red represents the heart of the family and Yellow represents the light of Christ. What happens when RED and YELLOW collide?
ORANGE Happens. A collision of two things that have a great impact on our children’s hearts.
Do you want to be Orange with us?
Helping you grow
How can we help your family grow?
We would love to know how this blog can be a helpful resource to parents of children and youth, 0-18.
Leave a question in the comments or email agaskill@hopecentral.com. Want to be anonymous? Write us a note and slip it to us when we aren’t looking one Sunday. But no matter how you do it, take a moment to let us know how family ministry could best support your family.
Be sure to click on the link on the bottom left to follow any blog at Hope church. You will get notified by email when we update your selected favorites.
What exactly was going on in TBA?
This is a video clip from this week’s Big Adventure Worship time. Maybe this explains a few of the noises you heard on Sunday morning? This clip + the dunk tank for HSM outside + donuts on the shuttle = definitely a fun church.
