Spiritual Formation is the life-long process of a believer growing as a disciple of Jesus and becoming more like him. The offerings on these pages are opportunities for you to be actively engaged in spiritual formation. Some options will help you CONNECT with people at HOPE. Others are opportunities to GROW in your knowledge and love for God.  And some provide an opportunity to SERVE and INVITE others, which is the way of life that Christ modeled for us. We encourage you to take steps to be involved in the process.

Because reading is a key part of spiritual formation, the pastors at HOPE recommend one or two books each quarter to help people grow.

Epic: The Story God is Telling – This summer’s selection is Epic: The Story God is Telling. Copies can be purchased at the Welcome Desk for $2.  A Saturday seminar will be held in the month of August to explore the themes from Epic.  Participants will be invited to group discussion and personal reflection on the unique and significant role that God is calling each of us to play in His larger story.  The seminar will be offered on August 13 from 9 to noon (with breakfast).  Please register for the session of your choice.

 

 

The Case for Christ– Lee Strobel, a former legal editor at the Chicago Tribune, shares his personal investigation of the evidence for Jesus ($5).  (Spring 2011)

The Gospel of John – During the month of January, we are inviting everyone at HOPE to read one chapter a day from John’s biography of Jesus.  (Winter 2011)

 

 

 

The Invitation – A Simple Guide to the Bible – Eugene Peterson, author of numerous books and translator of The Message, gives readers a simple, yet profound overview of the Bible that invites them to delve deeper into God’s Word. ($13).  (Winter 2011)
